da Vinci brush cleaning soap cleans and conditions artist and make-up brushes made from natural hair and synthetic fibre. Normal cleaning strips the hairs of their natural oils and makes them brittle. This conditioning soap restores oils to the fibres, maintains their elasticity and protects against hair breakage. Your brushes keep their shape for longer, even with frequent use.

The soap (40 g) comes in a round metal tin, 65 mm in diameter and 22 mm high. The tin is compact and fits into any brush case, and the soap stays dry and clean.

How to clean your brushes

First remove any heavy paint residue. Loosen oil paints beforehand with a brush cleaner; rinse acrylic and watercolour out under water. Then proceed as follows:

• Wet the brush under lukewarm water, holding the bristles downwards so that no water runs into the ferrule.
• Draw the bristles over the soap in circular movements with light pressure, or work up the lather in the palm of your hand.
• Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear and no more paint comes out.
• Smooth the bristles into shape with your fingers and leave the brush to dry lying flat or with the bristles pointing downwards.

The soap is intended for natural hair and synthetic brushes, both for painting brushes and for make-up brushes. The soap is perfumed. If you are sensitive to fragrances, check the ingredients on the packaging before use.
