With the KOSMOS Magische Perlentiere experiment kit, you thread two jungle animals from large beads and find out how colour-changing beads work. The parrot gets colourful bead wings whose tips turn blue in sunlight. On the chameleon, the multicoloured beads create the colour-change effect.
The set contains over 250 large beads. Large beads are easier to pick up and thread than small seed beads, which keeps the threading simple and easy to follow. Along the way, the kit answers questions such as: How does the threading technique work? Why do colour-changing beads turn colourful? How do animals in nature change their colour?
What's in the set
Besides the beads, the set includes a die-cut sheet and paper wire. It contains green and red beads as well as blue and multicoloured UV beads. These UV beads are the experiment beads: they react to the UV light of the sun and turn colourful as a result. The parrot and the chameleon show two different effects: on one, only the wing tips turn blue, while on the other the beads change colour all over.
How to proceed
Before you start, get a pencil, scissors, craft glue and a ruler ready; they are not included. Thread the beads onto the paper wire one after another and keep an eye on the order of the colours, so that the animals look colourful and even at the end. For the colour-change test you need sunlight: put the finished animals outside and watch how the UV beads change colour.
