Clover Blocking Pins – Pin Out and Steam Knitting Securely

The non-slip blocking pins from Clover (art. no. 3163) are U-shaped pins that hold knitted pieces in shape when blocking, steaming or pressing. The pack contains 40 pins, each 45 mm long.

The fork shape is easy to insert and pull out again. You can use them to pin jumpers, scarves, hats and other knitted pieces flat onto your surface, line up the edges straight and smooth the stitches evenly.

Blocking your knitting

Lay the knitted piece on your surface and ease it to size. Then insert the pins at a slant, almost parallel to the knitting, along the edges and corners. This keeps the surface easy to reach with the iron or steam. When steaming, hold the iron just above the knitting and do not press down, so the stitches are not flattened. Let the piece dry and cool completely before you remove the pins, otherwise it will spring back out of shape.

What the pins are suited to

With 40 pins, you can also block larger pieces such as jumper fronts and backs or scarves in one go. The closer together you place the pins along the edges, the more even the edges and curves will be.
