Darwi Concrete Modelling Clay – air-hardening, grey, no kiln needed

Darwi Concrete Modelling Clay is a self-hardening modelling compound in grey (Concrete) for pottery without a kiln. It is clay-like, smooth in consistency and has a fine grain that also lets you work out details. The compound is odourless, does not stick to your hands and does not shrink as it dries, so your piece keeps the shape you modelled.

The 500 g are wrapped in film, which protects the compound from drying out. The compound adheres to wood, glass, polystyrene, ceramic and plastic. You can therefore also create objects directly on these surfaces, such as decorative bowls, figures or concrete-look accessories.

Working with the clay

Knead the compound well before modelling. Dampen your hands slightly and it can be shaped particularly smoothly, with seamless transitions. The compound can also be cut with a knife or scissors. Reseal opened packs tightly in the film so that the leftovers do not dry out.

Drying and finishing

Leave your piece to dry at room temperature on absorbent paper. Allow approx. 24 hours per centimetre of thickness; depending on humidity it may take longer. Thick pieces therefore need several days. Only once the compound has dried through completely can you file, sand, drill, paint or varnish it. This gives you smooth edges, holes for hanging loops or a coloured finish if the concrete grey alone is not enough for you.
