FIMO air Modelling Clay – Pottery Without a Kiln

FIMO air by Staedtler is an air-drying, clay-like modelling clay for sculptures, decorations and craft projects. You shape it straight from the pack, and no kiln or oven is needed: the clay hardens in the air. It is smooth and pliable and holds its shape.

With 250 g in the pack, it suits smaller projects such as pendants, small bowls, figures or decorative pieces. The clay is made of at least 95% natural raw materials. It is offered for art, leisure and hobby use as well as for educational settings such as schools and nurseries. Choose your colour from the options.

Working with FIMO air

Knead the clay briefly until it is warm and pliable, then shape your piece. It is best to add fine details straight away, while the clay is soft. Smooth over joins with a little water on your fingers so that no seams show. Wrap anything you do not need immediately back in the foil, otherwise the clay will dry out in the air.

Hardening and decorating

Leave your piece to dry in the air. The thicker the piece, the longer it takes to dry through. Once dry, you can file, sand, drill, paint and varnish it. This gives figures, bowls or decorative pieces their own individual look.
