FIMO MIX Quick – clay softener for firm FIMO

FIMO MIX Quick from Staedtler is an extra soft modelling clay that you knead into firmer FIMO. It makes kneading easier and shorter, so the clay becomes workable more quickly. The pack contains one 100 g block.

MIX Quick hardens in the oven, but it is not intended as a modelling clay in its own right, only as an additive to your FIMO. The softener is made in Germany.

Using MIX Quick

Some FIMO colours are quite firm and hard to knead at first. The softener helps here, as it makes the material softer and more pliable.

• Separate a portion of the firm FIMO and divide it into small pieces.
• Add a piece of MIX Quick and knead everything thoroughly by hand until the clay is evenly soft.
• Start with a little and add more if needed: the more soft clay you add, the softer the result.
• Harden in the oven at 110 °C for 30 minutes, as usual with FIMO, never in the microwave.

When is the softener worthwhile?

It saves you long kneading, especially with larger amounts of firmer clay. For fine work such as millefiori canes or figures, an evenly soft clay lets you shape cleanly.
