The Faber-Castell Perfect Pencil CASTELL 9000 is a wooden pencil in grade B that combines writing, erasing and sharpening in a single pencil. It comes with an eraser and a cap with an integrated sharpener in a gift box, so it also works as a small gift for anyone who likes to write or sketch with a pencil.

Thanks to the SV special bonding, the lead is fully bonded to the wooden casing, which makes it especially break-resistant. That helps if the pencil is dropped or travels in your bag. The barrel is hexagonal and painted green, and the lacquer is water-based. A sturdy metal clip holds the pencil to a notebook or bag.

Using the Perfect Pencil

Push the protective cap over the tip so that it does not break off in your bag or pencil case. Once the pencil has become shorter, push the cap onto the end to extend it, so you can use it right down to the stub. When the tip gets blunt, sharpen it with the sharpener in the cap: turn the pencil in the sharpener, not the other way round, and apply little pressure. With the replaceable eraser you can make corrections right on the pencil.

What does grade B mean?

B stands for a softer lead than HB. It gives a slightly darker, bolder line and glides easily over the paper, which suits writing, sketching and shading. The CASTELL 9000 is available in 16 grades; this set contains grade B.
