The Rayher wooden wheel, made of natural solid wood, is a blank for home-made cars and toys, model making, decorations and macramé. The tread is flat, so the wheel sits level on the surface. The wheel is available in 4 diameters; choose the one you need from the options.

The wood is raw and untreated. You can paint, stain, oil or varnish it as you like, or leave it natural if you like the warm look of the wood.

How to build a wheel that turns

Sand the raw wood lightly if needed and decorate the wheel before you assemble it. For it to turn freely later, it must not be glued to the axle. The axle needs a little play in the hole, and a stopper or a washer at the end of the axle keeps the wheel in place. Glue the axle into its mount on the vehicle instead.

Which diameter should you choose?

Small wheels suit delicate models and miniatures, larger ones suit toy cars, carts and decorative pieces that need to stand firmly. For a vehicle, use the same diameter on all axles, otherwise it will stand crooked.
