Edpas Swiss Pine Carving Wood – 10 Blocks with Carving Templates

Edpas Swiss pine carving wood consists of 10 solid Swiss pine blocks, each measuring 2.5 × 2.5 × 10 cm. You can carve small figures, pendants or practice pieces from them. Carving templates are included, so you can start straight away.

Swiss pine is soft and light, and according to Edpas it is very easy to carve and work. It has a pleasant scent. The compact block size suits small designs. With 10 pieces, you can try several templates in a row or get over the odd failed attempt. As a natural product, the wood may differ slightly in colour and grain from the picture.

Carving method

Transfer a template to the block with a pencil and work out the rough shape first. Take off thin shavings rather than large chunks. Carve with the grain, not against it, otherwise the soft wood tears out easily. Always cut away from your body and keep the hand holding the block out of the line of the cut. Finally, smooth the surface with fine sandpaper.

Which size to choose

At 2.5 × 2.5 × 10 cm, the blocks are intended for small designs. For larger figures, Edpas Swiss pine is also available as square timbers of 7 × 7 × 20 cm, 2 pieces.
