Botz 9526 Champagner Liquid Glaze – Satin Cream White for Earthenware

Botz 9526 Champagner liquid glaze is a ready-to-use brush-on glaze for earthenware in a soft cream white. It is satin, opaque and has a slightly textured, speckled surface. It is particularly suitable for the inside of vessels.

Champagner is stable within a firing range of 1020–1060 °C and, according to Botz, can be fired up to 1100 °C. You therefore do not need a high firing; it fits the usual low-fire range for earthenware. The glaze is applied with a brush straight from the tub, with no mixing required.

Application

Champagner is applied to bisque-fired ceramics. It is important to stir thoroughly, because the glaze particles settle in the tub. If the glaze is too thick, you can thin it with a little water.

• Stir the glaze well
• Apply with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics (at least 950 °C)
• Leave to dry thoroughly
• If needed, apply another coat and leave to dry again
• Fire within the firing range of 1020–1060 °C; firing up to 1100 °C is possible

Choosing and firing

For firing: apply the glaze evenly and leave the foot ring free of glaze so that the piece does not stick to the kiln shelf. As the glaze is opaque, the result depends mainly on how you apply it, not on the clay body. A test piece will show you beforehand how the colour and surface look with your clay and your kiln. Botz liquid glazes are available in other colours, for example 9527 Lagune and 9529 Rosenquarz, which were developed on the basis of Champagner.

Keep out of reach of children. Do not leave children unsupervised when using the product. Ventilate the room during firing and vent fumes to the outside. Risk of slipping if the product is spilled. Do not allow it to enter watercourses or drains.
