Botz 9516 Lila liquid glaze – opaque, glossy dark purple for earthenware
Botz 9516 Lila liquid glaze is a ready-to-use earthenware glaze in an opaque, intense dark purple. It is glossy, gives good coverage and fires to a plain, single-colour surface with no special effects. It suits mugs, bowls or figures in a rich purple.
The glaze is stable in the range from 1020 to 1060 °C and can be fired up to 1100 °C. It combines well with Botz 9514 Herbstaster, for example for rims, patterns or two-colour pieces.
Application
Stir the glaze thoroughly before use, as the colour pigments settle at the bottom. If it is too thick, thin it with a little water. Apply it with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics; the bisque firing should have been carried out at 950 °C or above. Let each coat dry well and repeat the application if needed until the surface is evenly covered.
- Stir the glaze well, thin with water if needed
- Apply to bisque-fired ceramics (min. 950 °C)
- Allow to dry well, repeat if needed
- Fire in the range 1020–1060 °C, up to 1100 °C possible
Combining and firing
9516 Lila is a plain colour and covers the clay body, so the colour of the clay has little effect on the result. For high-contrast designs, combine it with 9514 Herbstaster. Fire both glazes in their shared stable range of 1020–1060 °C so the colours turn out as expected.
