Botz Liquid Glaze 9607 Koralle – Strong Red with Texture, Suitable for Raku

Botz 9607 Koralle is a ready-to-use, glossy liquid glaze for bisque-fired ceramics. It gives a strong, opaque red with a lively surface texture. The glaze belongs to the earthenware group, is stable in the firing range 1020–1060 °C and is suitable for raku firing, where it glows particularly brightly.

You brush the glaze on. Because it produces a red with texture, each piece looks slightly different. It shows its effect particularly well on a smooth, plain surface.

Application and firing

Stir the glaze well and thin it with a little water if needed. Apply it with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics (at least 950 °C). Let it dry thoroughly and repeat the application if needed. Apply Koralle thickly so that the red becomes strong and opaque.

• Firing range: 1020–1060 °C, where the glaze is stable
• At lower temperatures the shade turns out more orange
• If possible, fire with a supply of oxygen or do not place the pieces too close together

White edges and effects

Koralle tends to show white patches on edges. The glaze becomes thinner there during firing, so a thick application helps on rims and corners too. For a special effect, you can brush Koralle irregularly over Botz 9606. The glaze glows particularly strongly in raku firing. The glaze is also available in a larger 800 ml pack, if you are glazing larger surfaces or several pieces.
