Mayco Jungle Gems S-2726 Cheetah – crystal glaze for decorative ceramics
Mayco Jungle Gems S-2726 Cheetah is a ready-to-use liquid glaze with crystal effects for decorative ceramics such as vases, bowls and figures. The glaze contains crystalline particles that spread out during firing. This creates a lively surface with colourful crystals that looks different on every piece. The 118 ml container is enough for test pieces and smaller objects.
The glaze is intended for decorative purposes only. It is not suitable for dinnerware or items that come into contact with food, because the surface may craze. It cannot be sprayed; it is applied with a brush.
Application
The crystals settle in the container. Shake the glaze well before each use and stir it. Then apply it with a fan brush to bisque-fired ceramics.
- Apply 2–3 even coats and allow to dry between coats
- For the third coat, redistribute the crystals if needed so that they are evenly spread
- Do not place crystals near the base, as they may run during firing
- Allow to dry thoroughly before firing
Firing and colour
Fire at cone 06–05 (approx. 998–1031 °C, guide value per Orton chart). At higher temperatures the colours become paler, so stay within the stated range. Because the crystals flow, it is best to place pieces on a kiln shelf protected with kiln wash. A test piece will show you beforehand how the glaze behaves on your clay.
