Mayco Stroke & Coat SC-005 Tiger Tail – glaze for details, lines and multicolour designs
With Mayco Stroke & Coat SC-005 Tiger Tail you can glaze greenware, bisque and stoneware. According to Mayco, the glaze stays where you apply it. That helps with fine details, crisp lines and multicolour designs, because nothing runs together. It fires glossy, so you do not need an additional clear glaze.
According to Mayco, the glaze is dinnerware safe. It carries the ACMI AP (Approved Product) seal and conforms to ASTM D-4236. The container holds 236 ml.
Application and coverage
The number of coats determines the result. Thinned, it gives soft gradients and transparent effects. Let each coat dry before applying the next so that the glaze does not dissolve.
- 1 coat: slightly transparent
- 2–3 coats: opaque
- Thinned: transparent effects and colour gradients
- Glossy finish without clear glaze
Firing
The normal firing range is cone 06 (approx. 998 °C, guide value per Orton chart). The glaze is also suitable for high firing on stoneware and can be used in both oxidation and reduction firing. This means you can combine it with your usual firing schedule. A test tile on your own clay shows you beforehand how the colour turns out.
Choosing within the series
Stroke & Coat comes in 82 colours, which can be mixed with one another. If you would like to compare colours first, the shop also offers sample sets of 12 × 59 ml each.
