Mayco Stroke & Coat SC-52 Toad-ily Green – glossy ceramic glaze
Mayco Stroke & Coat SC-52 Toad-ily Green is a green ceramic glaze for greenware, bisque and stoneware. You apply it with a brush. According to Mayco, it stays where you put it, so you can paint fine details, clean lines and multi-coloured designs.
The bottle contains 236 ml. The glaze fires glossy and needs no additional clear glaze. All colours in the range can be mixed with each other. Thinned down, they give soft gradients and transparent effects.
Application and coverage
The number of coats controls the result: one coat looks translucent, while 2–3 coats make the glaze opaque. Let each coat dry before you apply the next. If you thin the glaze, you get transparent effects and soft transitions. Because all colours in the range can be mixed, you can also create your own shades of green.
Firing and stoneware
Mayco formulates its glazes for maturing at cone 06/05 (approx. 998 and 1031 °C respectively, guide values per Orton chart). The possible firing range runs from cone 06 to cone 10, oxidising or reducing. In mid-range or high firing, colours can change and designs can run. Mayco therefore recommends a test with your own clay and your own kiln. How this colour behaves at cone 6 (approx. 1222 °C, guide value per Orton chart) is stated on the label.

Tableware and safety
According to Mayco, after firing and in line with the manufacturer's instructions, the glaze is dinnerware safe. According to ACMI, the AP seal means: exempt from hazard labelling. Testing for food contact is the responsibility of the manufacturer of the finished item.
