Liquid Earthenware Glazes for Lower Firing Temperatures
This category includes glazes for ceramic work in a firing range of approximately 1020 to 1100 °C. Depending on the individual product, finishes may be opaque, transparent, matte, glossy or effect-based.
Match the Glaze, Clay and Firing
– follow the firing range specified for each product
– use the recommended number of coats and application method
– make sure the clay body and glaze are compatible in terms of firing temperature
– plan a test firing when trying a new combination
Color and surface can vary with the clay body, application thickness, firing schedule and kiln atmosphere. The manufacturer's current instructions for each individual glaze are therefore the most important reference for processing and firing.
