Botz 9517 Heidekraut liquid glaze – satin dusky pink with metallic specks
Botz 9517 Heidekraut liquid glaze is a ready-to-use earthenware glaze for bisque-fired ceramics. It gives a soft dusky pink flecked with grey-green metallic specks. The finish is satin and opaque, with a stoneware character.
The glaze is stable in the firing range of 1020–1060 °C and, according to Botz, can be fired up to 1100 °C. It therefore suits earthenware glazed in the usual range of approx. 1020–1100 °C. The specks give a lively surface without the need to combine several glazes.
Application
The liquid glaze is ready to use and is applied with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics.
- Bisque fire the ceramics beforehand at 950 °C or above.
- Stir the glaze well before use and thin with a little water if needed.
- Apply evenly with a brush and leave to dry thoroughly.
- Repeat the application if needed.
- Then fire within the firing range of 1020–1060 °C; firing up to 1100 °C is possible.
Choosing Heidekraut
Heidekraut is the right choice if you want a calm, satin surface in muted pink that does not look flat thanks to the specks. The Botz liquid glaze series offers further colours, from plain shades to effect glazes. A test tile on your own clay will show you beforehand how the colour and specks turn out in your firing.
