Botz 9477 Malve Liquid Glaze – Strong, Opaque, Glossy Purple
Botz liquid glaze 9477 Malve is a glossy glaze in a strong purple for bisque-fired ceramics. It covers well and, according to the manufacturer, is stable in the firing range of 1020 to 1060 °C. If needed, you can fire it up to 1100 °C. This makes it suitable for earthenware in the 1020–1100 °C range.
Malve is a plain, single-colour glaze with no special effects. The purple looks even and strong, so it suits surfaces that should look uniform and rich in colour. It combines well with BOTZ 9513 Anemone, for example for patterns, rims or two-colour pieces.
Applying the glaze
The glaze is applied to ceramics that have already been bisque-fired. The bisque firing should have been carried out at a minimum of 950 °C.
- Stir the glaze well before use so that any settled particles mix back in.
- If needed, thin with a little water.
- Apply evenly to the bisque-fired ceramic with a brush.
- Leave to dry thoroughly and repeat the application if needed.
Firing and colour
Fire Malve in the range of 1020 to 1060 °C, where the glaze is stable according to the manufacturer. A higher temperature of up to 1100 °C is possible. A test piece on your own clay will show you beforehand how opaque the purple looks with your application and your firing cycle. Wipe the base clean before firing so that the piece does not stick to the kiln shelf. With several coats, the purple becomes stronger and more opaque.
