Malzeit Artists' Soap – cleaning paint residue from brushes and hands
Malzeit (AMI) artists' soap cleans brushes and hands and removes residues of oil and acrylic paint. It is suitable for natural-hair and synthetic brushes. The bar weighs 100 g and is individually wrapped in cellophane.
Ordinary rinsing strips natural hair of its natural oils, so the hairs become brittle and break more easily. The soap contains lanolin, which puts some of that oil back into the hair. Use it after your usual rinsing so your brushes stay supple for longer.
How to clean your brushes with the soap
First rinse the brush out as usual, and do not let acrylic paint dry on it. Then dampen the hairs and swirl them over the wet soap, or work the lather up in the palm of your hand. Rinse the brush thoroughly under lukewarm water until no more lather or paint comes out. Shape the hairs with a cloth and leave the brush to dry lying flat, not upright with the hairs pointing up and not standing on its hairs in a water jar.
Also for hands
The soap can also be used on your hands: it removes oil and acrylic paint residues from your skin, so you do not have to reach for thinners straight away. Let the bar dry out between uses and it will last longer.
