Schmincke Norma Blue thinning painting medium, 60 ml

Schmincke Norma Blue painting medium – makes water-mixable oil paints smoother

Schmincke Norma Blue thinning painting medium is a lean, water-based, oil-free and low-odour medium for water-mixable oil paints. It supports the typical feel of oil paint and makes the colour smoother than thinning it with water alone.

The 60 ml bottle is enough to get started and to try the medium out. Because the medium is oil-free, the paint stays water-mixable.

Using the medium

Put some paint on the palette and mix in the medium with a brush or palette knife. The paint becomes smoother and spreads more softly. The dosage is a maximum of 1:1, meaning no more medium than paint. Start with a few drops and test the mixture on a piece of painting board or paper before applying it to the canvas.

Which paints is it suitable for?

The medium is intended exclusively for water-mixable oil paints. You must not combine it with traditional oil paints. If you work with both types of paint, label the bottles so that you do not mix up the media.
