Schmincke Norma Blue water-mixable oil paint, 35 ml

Schmincke Norma Blue – water-mixable oil paint without solvents

Schmincke Norma Blue is a water-mixable artists' oil paint in a 35 ml metal tube. You paint with it just as you would with traditional oil paint, but you need no turpentine and no solvents. The paint has a low odour, so you can also use it indoors without a dedicated studio, for example at home or in lessons.

The consistency is buttery and heavy-bodied, so brush and palette knife marks stay visible. The paint is based on plant-based oils, is vegan, preservative-free and free from cobalt, cadmium and zinc oxide pigments. The range comprises 48 colours with a lightfastness of 4 to 5 stars. Choose your colour from the options.

Using Norma Blue

You can apply the paint straight from the tube, thin it with water or mix it with the matching Norma Blue mediums. Canvas and oil painting paper are suitable surfaces. You simply clean brushes and palette knives with soap and water, which saves on solvents and makes working at home straightforward.

Choosing colours and combining

Norma Blue is available as single tubes, so you put together your own palette. The paint can also be used with traditional oil painting mediums, but it then loses its water-mixability. So do not mix both systems indiscriminately within one painting if you later want to clean up or thin with water. Thanks to its low yellowing and good lightfastness, the paint is also suitable for work that is meant to hang for a long time.
