The da Vinci TOP-ACRYL series 7789 is a round brush with a 60 cm long handle for acrylic, oil, gouache and tempera paints. It is designed for work on large formats: the long handle lets you paint from a distance, for example at the easel, and make sweeping, gestural strokes.

The red-brown synthetic fibres have plenty of spring and sit deep in the silver ferrule. This means the brush stands up to firm pressure, and you can use it for expressive work and on rougher painting surfaces. The fibres are easy to clean after use and keep their shape. As well as working on canvas, the brush is also suitable as a scenic painting brush. Choose your size from the options.

Working with the long handle

For loose, sweeping strokes, hold the brush at the far end of the handle and work from the arm rather than the wrist. For more controlled lines and more precise areas, hold it further forward. Do not load too much paint, otherwise the fibres clump together and the strokes become uncontrolled. Clean the brush thoroughly after painting, especially with acrylic paint: dried paint in the ferrule is almost impossible to remove later.

What is the round brush suited to?

The round shape is suited to lines, outlines and filling areas. Depending on the pressure, the stroke is thin or broad. Because of the long handle, it is particularly suited to large-format canvases and scenic painting. For small formats or fine details, a short brush is easier to handle.
