Botz PRO 9303 Citringelb – yellow liquid glaze for earthenware and stoneware
Botz PRO 9303 Citringelb is a glossy yellow liquid glaze for ceramics that you can fire between 1020 and 1280 °C. Thanks to this wide firing range, the same glaze can be used on earthenware, early-vitrifying clays and stoneware. The bottle contains 800 ml and is made in Germany.
The colour effect depends on the firing temperature: in the earthenware range from 1020 °C, the PRO palette turns out colourful and almost opaque. At around 1150 °C, as needed by some early-vitrifying clays, the colour is retained, but the surface becomes more semi-transparent. In a high firing, Botz PRO gives a glassy, semi-transparent surface in intense pastel shades. Good results are also possible on porcelain at 1250 °C.
Which temperature suits which clay?
Choose the firing according to your clay body. The figures apply to application on bisque-fired ceramics.
- Earthenware from 1020 °C: strong colour and almost opaque, 2–3 coats recommended
- Early-vitrifying clays around 1150 °C: colour is retained, surface more semi-transparent, 2 coats recommended
- Stoneware in a high firing up to 1280 °C: glassy, semi-transparent surface in intense pastel shades
- Porcelain at 1250 °C: good results
Application and avoiding runs
Stir the glaze well before use and apply it evenly with a brush. Let each coat dry before applying the next. Botz PRO tends to run when applied thickly. So do not apply too much, especially on the lower part of the piece, and leave the foot free of glaze. This keeps the kiln shelf clean. If you would like to combine the glaze with BOTZ Unidekor, test the combination beforehand on a test piece made from your clay.
