Botz 9487 Gelb matt liquid glaze – opaque matt yellow, 200 ml

Botz 9487 Gelb matt liquid glaze – opaque matt glaze for earthenware

Botz liquid glaze 9487 Gelb matt is a ready-to-use, opaque yellow glaze for bisque-fired ceramics. It gives a pleasant, even, matt finish and is applied with a brush.

The glaze is stable between 1020 and 1060 °C and, according to Botz, can also be fired up to 1100 °C. You can therefore use it in a normal earthenware firing without having to go up to stoneware temperatures.

How to apply the glaze

Apply the glaze only to ceramics that have previously been bisque-fired at 950 °C or above. Stir the glaze well before use, as the colour pigments and glaze components settle at the bottom. If it is too thick, thin it with a little water as needed.

• Stir the glaze thoroughly and thin with water if needed
• Brush evenly onto the bisque-fired piece
• Allow each coat to dry well
• Apply another coat if needed, until the surface is evenly covered

Firing and mixing

Within the stated range of 1020 to 1060 °C, the result remains stable. Higher temperatures up to 1100 °C are possible according to Botz. The glaze can be mixed with other opaque matt Botz glazes if you want to mix your own shades of yellow. A test tile on your own clay will show you beforehand how the mixture looks after firing.
