Prym Bodkins – threading elastic and cord

With the Prym Bodkins (art. no. 131320), you thread elastic, cord or string through waistbands, hood casings or drawstring channels. The set contains two different needles, so you can choose according to the tape and yarn.

Both needles have rounded tips that do not pierce the fabric. The smooth coated surface lets them glide easily through the fabric channel.

Which needle for which job?

The brass needle has a split shank that is open towards the eye. You clamp the tape between the two halves of the shank without having to thread it. This is quick, especially with wide elastic. The steel needle has a long eye for tapes and thick yarns, and a round eye for finer yarns and round elastic. You can use it to thread thin cords and round elastic securely.

Threading a tape

Attach the tape to the needle and push it through the channel, gathering the fabric over the needle bit by bit. First secure the back end of the tape to the fabric with a safety pin so that it does not disappear into the channel.
