Clover Sliding Gauge – set a measurement and mark it again and again

With the Clover sliding gauge (art. no. 7706), you set a measurement between 5 and 120 mm in 1 mm steps and mark it on the fabric the same way every time. According to Clover, it is suitable for seam lines, hemlines, pintucks, pleats and buttonholes, in other words for anything where the same measurement is needed several times. It also works as a seam allowance gauge, hem gauge and compass.

Using the sliding gauge

First set the measurement you need, for example the seam allowance or the hem width. Then place the gauge against the edge of the fabric and mark with chalk or a pen. Because the measurement stays set, you can transfer it to several places or pieces without measuring again each time. This saves time and helps you keep spacing even, for example with a row of buttonholes or pleats.
