Clover Appliqué Needles No. 10 – Long, Sharp Needles for Fine Appliqué

Clover sewing needles No. 10 (art. no. 497/10) are long, fine needles for hand appliqué. The elliptical eye is gold-plated. According to the manufacturer, the gold coating makes threading easier and is gentle on the thread. The needles glide smoothly through the fabric and the point is sharp, which helps with fine fabrics and small, detailed motifs.

The steel is hardened by heat treatment and finishing, and according to Clover the needles are hard to bend or break. The surface is nickel-plated. A pack contains 15 needles, so you have a supply for several projects.

Sewing appliqué by hand

For hand appliqué, work with fine thread and small stitches. First secure the motif to the background fabric with pins or clips. You can also use the long, sharp point to turn under the seam allowance of the appliqué piece bit by bit before stitching it down. Stitch through the fabric as vertically as possible and pull the thread evenly so that the edge lies flat.
