Prym long sewing needles No. 9 – slim hand sewing needles for all common sewing jobs
Prym long sewing needles No. 9 (art. no. 121293) are hand sewing needles for all common sewing jobs. They are made of hardened steel, with a burr-free punched eye and a finely ground, slim point. The smooth, pore-free coated surface lets them glide easily through the fabric. According to Prym, the balanced spring hardness means smooth working without bending or breaking, even with fine needles.
The head of the needle is shaped so that you can guide the needles well even without a thimble. The card holds 20 silver-coloured needles.
Which needle number?
With Prym, the higher the number, the thinner and shorter the needle. No. 9 at 0.60 × 34 mm is finer than No. 7 (0.7 × 38 mm) and No. 5 (0.8 × 40 mm). For fine fabrics, choose the higher numbers; for thicker fabrics, the lower ones. If you need several sizes, take the No. 5–9 assortment.
Long or medium length?
Long sewing needles are generally approx. 7 mm longer than the corresponding medium-length ones. Many people prefer them for their better grip. Experienced sewers often choose medium-length needles for demanding work, because the needle passes through the fabric faster.
