The Clover quilting needle No. 12 (art. no. 496/12) is a short needle for hand quilting and patchwork. The pack contains 15 nickel-plated steel needles with a gold-plated eye. At 24.4 mm long and 0.53 mm in diameter, they are easy to guide in short movements and make small, even stitches through the quilt top, wadding and backing.

According to Clover, the gold-plated eye makes threading easier and is gentle on the thread as it is pulled through. According to Clover, the steel is heat-treated, so it is hard to bend or break. The point is sharp.

Which size suits your project?

The Clover 496 series is also available as No. 9 (27 mm) and No. 10 (25.4 mm). At 24.4 mm, No. 12 is the shortest of the three. A short needle sits compactly in the hand and suits small stitches; with several layers of fabric, a thimble helps you push the needle through. A test piece made with your own wadding and fabric will show which length suits you best.
