Clover curved ruler set – drawing curved lines and seam allowances

The Clover curved ruler set (art. no. 7704) consists of two curved rulers and a straight 15 cm mini ruler. You can use it to transfer sewing patterns, draw designs and mark curved seam lines, for example at the hem, hip, neckline or armhole.

Parallel lines are printed along the edge of the curved rulers. You use them to draw curved seam allowances without measuring again. A case for storage is included in the set.

How to draw curved seam allowances

Place the curved edge of the ruler against the seam line and trace it. Then line up one of the printed parallel lines with that seam line and mark the seam allowance along the edge of the ruler. This works evenly on curves such as the armhole or neckline, where a straight ruler does not lie flat. Use the straight 15 cm mini ruler for short straight stretches, for example for marks and small distances.

Which ruler for which curve?

The two curved rulers are designed for curves of different tightness. One suits wide curves such as the hem and hip line, the other suits tight curves such as the neckline and armhole. Before drawing, hold both against the cut edge and use the ruler whose curve follows the line most closely.
