Clover Pressing Bars – 5 Bars for Evenly Pressed Fabric Tubes

The Clover pressing bars (art. no. 4052) come as a set of 5 bars in 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 mm. You use them to press fabric tubes for 3D appliqué and Celtic quilting evenly flat, even with narrow tubes that your fingers can no longer reach into.

The bars are made of polyamide with glass fibres. With five widths in the set, you have the right bar to hand for loops and bows of different widths. Instructions are printed on the back of the packaging.

Pressing fabric tubes with the bars

Sew a fabric strip together lengthways to form a tube and turn it right side out. Then slide the right bar into the tube and place the seam in the centre of the bar. This presses the seam allowances flat exactly and without creases. You can press the seam allowances to one side or open. Set the iron to suit the fabric and let the bar cool down before you touch it.

Which bar to choose

Choose the bar that matches the finished width of your tube: the narrow 6 and 9 mm bars for fine loops and details, the wider 12, 15 and 18 mm bars for thicker bands and bows. For a motif with even widths, one bar is often enough; several sizes help with designs that use bands of different widths.
