Prym Embroidery Needles No. 5 – Crewel Needles with a Gold-Coloured Eye

Prym embroidery needles No. 5 are crewel needles with a large eye for embroidery and fine hand sewing. You get 16 needles in hardened steel, each 41 mm long and 0.80 mm thick.

The gold-coloured eye is punched burr-free and smooth. This makes threading easier and is gentle on the thread. The surface has a non-porous finish, so the needle glides well through the fabric and, according to Prym, is protected against rust. The spring hardness is balanced so that the needles do not bend or break easily.

Which number to choose

The higher the number, the finer the needle. No. 5 is the thickest and longest in this series: No. 7 measures 38 × 0.70 mm and No. 9 measures 35 × 0.60 mm. With No. 5 you embroider somewhat more coarsely, while No. 7 and 9 suit denser, finer fabrics. Choose the needle so that the thread passes through the hole in the fabric without friction.

The needles are suitable for embroidery and fine hand sewing. Prym describes them as sewing needles with a large eye, also suitable for fine embroidery.
