Prym iron-on seam tape – reinforces seams under strain
The Prym iron-on seam tape (art. no. 968235) is a fusible nonwoven tape for reinforcing seams that are put under strain, such as armholes, necklines, shoulder seams and piped buttonholes. The tape is 10 mm wide, and the card holds 10 m in white.
The tape adds stability along the seam line. As a result, the fabric is less likely to distort under the presser foot as you sew. According to Prym, it is made of 50% polyester and 50% viscose and is washable at 40 °C.
Reinforcing a seam
Iron the tape onto the wrong side of the fabric pieces with light pressure, exactly along the future seam line. Only then do you sew the seam. On necklines that stretch easily, the tape keeps the shape, and on a buttonhole it gives the fabric extra support. Test the right ironing temperature on a fabric offcut first so that your fabric is not damaged.
