YKK CHC-26 – concealed zip, 22 cm, for skirts, dresses, trousers and cushions

The YKK CHC-26 concealed zip in 22 cm is a closed-end plastic coil zip for skirts, dresses, trousers and cushions. Once sewn in, it sits hidden in the seam, so only the seam and the zip pull are visible on the right side of the fabric.

The coil is made of plastic. Because the zip is closed-end, it suits openings that only open from one side, for example in the back of a dress or in the side seam of a skirt. For jackets that need to come apart completely, you need an open-ended zip. Choose your colour from the options.

Sewing in the concealed zip

A concealed zip is sewn in before the seam below it is closed. A special concealed zip foot guides the coil in a groove, so you sew very close to the teeth.

• Place the open zip face down on the right side of the fabric and pin it in place
• Sew with the special foot as far as the zip pull, then sew the second side in the same way
• Close the seam below the zip with a standard presser foot

Choosing the length

Measure the opening in your sewing pattern and choose the length to match. The CHC-26 is also available in the shop in 40 cm, in case your opening is longer.
