The Prym coat hanging chain (art. no. 552196) is a black sew-on chain for hanging coats, jackets or capes on a hook or rail. The chain is 12.5 cm long and made of iron. According to Prym, it is sturdy and tear-resistant. The pack contains 3 chains, so you can fit several garments at once.

The two outer links each have two eyelets. They let you fasten the chain securely to the fabric at both ends.

Sewing on the hanging chain

The chain is attached inside the garment at the back of the neck. Lay it flat on the fabric and hand-sew each end through both eyelets using strong thread. Pass the stitches through the eyelets several times and fasten off the thread well at the end. This holds the chain firmly and the fabric is supported evenly. On thin fabrics, you can place a small piece of lining or firm fabric underneath on the inside so the fabric does not pucker where it is sewn.
