Prym beech wood embroidery hoop, Ø 16 cm – holds fabric taut with a brass screw
The Prym embroidery hoop in natural beech wood keeps your fabric taut while you stitch. It consists of a double ring with a brass adjusting screw. The screw lets you regulate the tension, so even thin fabrics are held evenly. The wood is finely sanded and 3-ply glued, and at 8 mm thick the ring sits flat in the hand. At 16 cm in diameter, it suits small and medium motifs such as monograms, flowers or lettering. You can use it for hand embroidery and for free machine embroidery.
How to hoop the fabric
Place the inner ring on a flat surface and lay the fabric over it. Set the outer ring on top with the screw loosened and press it down. Smooth the fabric all the way round without distorting the weave, and only then tighten the screw. Hoop soft or thin fabrics so that the grain stays straight. Otherwise the motif will pucker as soon as you remove the hoop.
Which diameter should you choose?
The embroidery hoop is available in diameters of 13, 16, 19, 22 and 25 cm. At 16 cm you have enough room for small and medium motifs, and the hoop stays easy to handle. For larger areas, choose one of the larger diameters.
