Prym Embroidery Needles with Sharp Point No. 22 – fine steel needles for hand embroidery
The Prym embroidery needles with sharp point No. 22 (art. no. 125552) are fine steel needles for embroidering by hand. You get 6 needles on a card, each 40 mm long and 0.90 mm thick.
According to Prym, the embroidery needles in this range are intended mainly for silk embroidery, whitework and all fine embroidery. According to Prym, the range is made of hardened steel with a finely ground point and a symmetrically punched, burr-free eye. A burr-free eye is gentle on the embroidery thread when threading and pulling it through.
Which number suits your thread?
At 40 × 0.90 mm, No. 22 is slightly longer and stronger than its sister needle No. 24 at 37 × 0.80 mm. What matters is your embroidery thread: it should thread easily and follow the needle through the fabric without friction. If the eye is too narrow, the thread frays. Choose a finer needle for very dense, fine fabrics.
Storage
Keep the needles on the card until use or put them in a pincushion. Store them in a dry place, as steel can rust in damp conditions.
