ITO Kosho – fine merino and cashmere knitting yarn

ITO Kosho is a fine knitting yarn made from 90% mulesing-free merino wool from Uruguay and 10% cashmere. You can knit thin shawls, lightweight cardigans and jumpers with it. According to the manufacturer, it is also suitable for baby clothes. One ball weighs 25 g and has a length of 175 m.

Kosho is woollen-spun in Japan on a spinning mule. This makes the yarn particularly light and airy. Choose your colour from the options.

What to use Kosho for

Kosho has slightly less volume than ITO So Kosho. So Kosho is the same base yarn in DK weight, twice as thick, with around 175 m per 50 g. Use Kosho for projects that should stay fine and light: thin shawls, simple cardigans, jumpers and baby clothes. If you knit the yarn doubled, you get marl effects. According to the manufacturer, it can also be combined with other ITO yarns.

Needle size and tension

For Kosho, the manufacturer gives 3.25 mm needles and 29 stitches over 10 cm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. With 175 m per 25 g, you can plan the amount for your project from the length. For shawls and larger pieces, it is best to buy all the balls at once so the colour stays consistent.
