LYKKE Rosewood Needle Gauge – Measure Needle Size and Tension
The LYKKE rosewood needle gauge is a wooden template that you use to determine the size of knitting needles and to measure tension swatches. It is especially useful for needles with no legible size marking, or when you are sorting single needles from different sets. Unlike the usual plastic gauges, it is made from natural wood.
The measuring range runs from 1.75 mm (US 00) to 12 mm (US 17). Two notches for the tension swatch measure 10 cm and 4 inches (approx. 10.2 cm). This means you can work with both metric patterns and patterns that give measurements in inches.
How to use the needle gauge
To find the needle size, slide the needle into the matching hole. If it just fits through, you have the size in millimetres or as a US size. For the tension swatch, lay your swatch flat and unstretched against the notch and count the stitches and rows over 10 cm or 4 inches. Choose the side that matches the measurement given in your pattern.
Good to know
Because the needle gauge is made from natural wood, the grain and colour may vary slightly from piece to piece. Its flat shape fits easily into a knitting bag or project bag, and it also makes a gift for knitting enthusiasts.
