Prym double-pointed knitting needles 20 cm – set of 5 needles for knitting in the round
The Prym double-pointed knitting needles are a set of 5 needles on a card, for knitting socks, stockings, hats and gloves in the round. Each needle is 20 cm long and has two points. You can therefore knit from either end, and the stitches will not slip off when you hold your work spread over several needles.
Prym describes the surface as smooth with a good grip. The pearl grey colour is meant to make the stitches easier to see, which helps when checking the pattern and the course of the stitches. Choose your needle size from the options. Sizes start from 2 mm.
Knitting in the round with double-pointed needles
Divide the cast-on stitches evenly over four needles and knit with the fifth. As soon as a needle is empty, it becomes the working needle for the next one. When changing from one needle to the next, pull the first stitch a little tighter. This prevents gaps or ladders forming at the joins.
20 cm or 15 cm?
The 20 cm needles sit comfortably in the hand and hold more stitches. This is practical for larger circumferences such as hats, or for thicker yarn. For very narrow tubes such as small socks or fingers of gloves, the shorter 15 cm version from the same range may be easier to handle.
