Round kiln shelf as a replacement or extra shelf for your kiln

The round kiln shelf replaces a worn shelf in your kiln or adds an extra level. With an additional shelf you can stack more ware in the kiln and make better use of the firing chamber. The thickness is 10 mm. Choose the size from the options.

Choosing and using the shelf in the kiln

Measure the inside diameter of your firing chamber before buying. The shelf should leave a little space to the kiln wall so that the heat can circulate in the kiln. The full shelf covers the whole level, while you need the half shelf if you only want to fill part of the level. For an extra level, place the shelf on kiln props. Make sure the shelf is level and stable before you put ware on it.

Care of the shelf

Coat the top with a suitable kiln wash so that glaze that has run off does not permanently stick to the shelf. Pieces with an unglazed foot also protect the shelf.
