Rayher Raysin 250 Black – black air-drying casting powder for solid castings
Rayher Raysin 250 Black is a black casting powder made of natural calcium sulphate and black pigment, which you pour into moulds to make decorative objects. With a strength of 250 N/mm², it is also suitable for large and very large castings, according to Rayher. The compound is air-drying, easy to work with and flows well. You can use it to cast pendants, candle holders, bowls and plates, for example.
According to Rayher, the surface looks deep black with a velvety feel. Rayher also states that the powder is suitable for casting with children. The 1 kg bag can be resealed, so the rest stays well packed until your next cast.
Working with Raysin 250 Black
Rayher gives a mixing ratio of 1 part water to 4 parts Raysin 250. Powder and water should be at 18 to 25 °C, as cold powder or cold water lengthens the working and setting time. Because of the high pigmentation, the black powder reacts differently from white when mixed. Stir very thoroughly so that the pigment is distributed evenly.
- Mix water and powder in the stated ratio in a clean container and stir thoroughly
- Pour the compound into the mould
- Demould after approx. 60 minutes, depending on the mould
- Leave the casting to dry completely for a few days, longer for large pieces
Black or white, 1 kg or 4 kg?
Raysin 250 Black can be combined with the white Raysin 100 and 200. Do not use the mixing ratio of Raysin 100 and 200, as Raysin 250 is mixed with less water. The 1 kg pack is enough to get started and for individual castings. For larger pieces or several casts, the same powder is also available in 4 kg.
