Rayher silicone mould Mini Nativity – 12 designs for casting
The Rayher silicone mould Mini Nativity (art. no. 36164000) contains 12 designs for a small Christmas nativity scene: stable, figures, animals and star. You can cast them in creative concrete, jewellery concrete, Raysin casting powder, casting resin or wax. According to Rayher, the silicone is extremely flexible and keeps its shape, and the mould can be reused.
You can fill the designs to different heights: shallow for delicate figures, deeper for decorative standing pieces. The sizes range from Jesus in the manger at 13 × 20 mm to the stable at 82 × 62 mm, and the base of every design measures 13 mm.
Casting the nativity figures
Place the mould on a level surface so that the compound does not set at an angle. Mix the casting compound according to the manufacturer's instructions and pour it into the cavities. For delicate figures, cast shallow; for standing pieces, fill the cavity higher. Tap the mould lightly so that air bubbles rise to the surface. Once set, gently flex the soft silicone and release the pieces. Acrylic paints and marker pens are suitable for painting. How much compound you need depends on the fill height; as a guide, according to Rayher, approx. 200 g of jewellery concrete/creative concrete 5in1 or approx. 170 g of Raysin 200.
Care and limits
After demoulding, clean the mould with water and, if needed, a little washing-up liquid. According to Rayher, it keeps its shape. The mould is not suitable for food: do not use it for baking or sweets after casting.
