Prym Embroidery Needles No. 16 with Point and Gold-Coloured Eye
Prym embroidery needles No. 16 (art. no. 125547) are pointed hand needles for fine embroidery where a slightly thicker or multi-strand thread has to pass through the fabric. The card contains 6 needles, 55 mm long and 1.60 mm thick.
The needles are made of hardened steel. The gold-coloured eye is enlarged, symmetrically punched and finished burr-free. This makes the thread easy to insert and stops it from fraying as it is pulled through. The point is finely ground and the surface has a smooth coating, so the needle glides evenly through the fabric.
What the needle is used for
Prym gives silk embroidery and all fine embroidery work as the main uses. The large eye takes thicker or multi-strand threads, while the needle itself suits fine or tightly woven fabrics. Chenille fabrics can also be embroidered with it.
Matching thread and fabric
The eye determines how thick your thread can be. When piercing the fabric, the needle should make an opening that the thread passes through without being tugged. If the thread becomes rough or catches as you pull it through, divide it into fewer strands.
