Rayher silicone mould – birds and birdhouses to hang or stand

The Rayher silicone mould (art. no. 36172000) has 5 designs: small, flat birdhouses and birds that you cast from craft concrete, Raysin casting powder, wax or casting resin. At the top of the cavities there are small pegs that form hanging holes as you cast. You can then hang the finished pieces from a string, for example at the window, in the garden or on a branch.

According to Rayher, the silicone is extremely flexible, holds its shape and is resistant to frost and heat (-40 °C to 240 °C). Thanks to the stretchy material, the dried pieces come out of the mould very easily. The birds measure 37 × 29 mm and 77 × 55 mm, the birdhouses 75 × 115 mm and 75 × 117 mm. Each design is 9 mm deep.

Casting with the silicone mould

Rinse the mould with water before first use. According to Rayher, you do not need an additional release agent such as oil.

• Mix the casting compound according to the instructions on the pack and fill the designs.
• Leave the compound to dry out thoroughly.
• Stretch the silicone sideways and gently push the piece out.
• Clean the mould with water and a little washing-up liquid; this keeps it in shape and reusable.

Hanging or standing: fill height decides

You can fill the designs to different heights. Birds and houses cast flat are hung up using the hanging holes. Filled completely, they stand up on their own. For planning, Rayher gives the quantity needed for the whole mould as approx. 170 g of craft concrete, Kreativ-Beton 5in1 or jewellery concrete, or approx. 150 g of Raysin 200.
