Lang Yarns VAYA – lightweight yarn made from cotton, wool and yak
Lang Yarns VAYA is a knitting yarn made from 74 % cotton, 16 % wool and 10 % yak, suited to jumpers, cardigans, shawls and fine accessories. The blend gives an airy, soft yarn with a pleasant handle. It works for spring and autumn as well as mild winter days. Choose your colour from the options.
Each ball weighs 50 g and has a length of approx. 200 m. That makes it easy to plan the amount for your project: the number of balls follows from the length per ball and the quantity given in your pattern.
Yarn quantities and tension
As a guide, a men's jumper in size M takes approx. 400 g, a women's jumper in size M approx. 300 g and a child's jumper for a 10-year-old approx. 200 g. At 50 g per ball, that is about 8, 6 and 4 balls respectively. The exact amount depends on the design. With 3.5–4 mm needles, Lang Yarns gives a tension of 24 stitches and 34 rows over 10 × 10 cm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide.
For an even colour effect
Lang Yarns recommends working with two balls alternately for an even colour effect. This way, slight differences between balls are barely noticeable in the finished piece. For care, the manufacturer recommends gentle treatment so that the fibre structure is preserved.
