Prym universal sewing machine needles 130/705 size 80 with flat shank

The Prym Standard 130/705 sewing machine needles in size 80 are universal needles for household sewing machines. You can use them on many natural and synthetic fabrics, such as cotton, blended fabrics, rayon, linen-cotton blends or poplin. The flat shank fits all common household machines. The pack contains 5 needles, so you have spares to hand when a needle goes blunt or breaks.

Size 80 is a medium needle size for light to medium fabrics such as blouses, shirts, dresses or suits. For very fine or very thick fabrics, choose a different size.

Suitable fabrics and how to fit the needle

The universal needle is a good choice for woven fabrics made of cotton, poplin or linen-cotton blends, as well as for blended fabrics and rayon. For knitted and jersey fabrics or leather, however, you need special needles. To fit the needle, push it up as far as it will go into the needle bar. On most household machines the flat side of the shank faces towards the back; always follow your machine's instructions.

When to change the needle

If the machine skips stitches, the thread breaks or the fabric snags, a blunt or bent needle is often the cause. Changing it usually solves the problem straight away.
