Prym Topstitch / Metallic needles – for decorative stitching and metallic thread

Prym Topstitch / Metallic special sewing machine needles are designed for decorative stitching, topstitching and embroidery work with heavy speciality and metallic threads. The extra-long eye makes it easier to work with heavy or doubled threads. The needles have a flat shank and fit all common domestic sewing machines.

The point is rounded to protect the fabric. The pack contains 5 needles in three sizes: 2 × No. 80, 2 × No. 90 and 1 × No. 100. That way you have the right size to hand for both finer and heavier threads.

Which needle size should you choose?

Use No. 80 or 90 for finer metallic or speciality threads, and No. 100 for heavier threads. The long eye gives the thread room, so it is less squashed as you sew. Before starting on your actual project, sew a test seam on a scrap of fabric, especially with metallic thread. That way you can see whether the thread and needle size go well together, and change the needle before you begin.
