Gütermann W331 metallic effect thread – glitter thread for decorative stitches and crafts

The Gütermann W331 metallic effect thread (series 744603) is an effect thread for decorative seams, decorative stitches and craft projects. It gives a striking glitter effect and can be used as both needle thread and bobbin thread.

The thread is made of 70% polyamide and 30% polyester. According to Gütermann, it is intended for decorative seams on all fabrics. One spool holds 50 m, which goes a long way for accents such as decorative stitches, outlines or small embroideries. For larger areas, plan for more spools. According to Gütermann, the thread is available in 12 shades. Choose your colour from the options.

Sewing with the metallic effect thread

Gütermann recommends a universal needle NM 100–110. The needle with a larger eye protects the thread as it runs through. Sew a test piece on a fabric offcut before starting your actual project: metallic threads are more sensitive to tension and speed than ordinary sewing thread. If you sew slowly and with slightly looser thread tension, the thread runs more evenly.
