Gütermann Tera 180 – fine overlocker thread for inconspicuous seams
Gütermann Tera 180 is a specialist sewing thread for fine overlock and coverlock seams, on a 2,000 m reel. It is made of semi-transparent continuous filament, 100% polyester. According to the manufacturer, the semi-transparency blends well with the fabric, so the seam is barely noticeable.
The surface is very smooth, and the thread is intended especially for very fine, lightweight fabrics. Seams do not leave an impression when pressed. Choose your colour from the options.
What Tera 180 is used for
The thread is intended for overlocked seams with a neat edge finish. According to the manufacturer, it is also suitable for blind hems and for pad stitching and felling. At No. 180 and 160 dtex (2-ply), the thread is very thin: it adds hardly any bulk on lightweight fabrics and keeps fine hems and details lying flat.
Needle and settings
Gütermann recommends a universal or overlocker needle NM 60–70. Matching the fine thread weight, it is suitable for fine to medium-weight fabrics. Sew a test seam on a fabric scrap before starting the actual piece, so you can adjust the thread tension and stitch appearance to your fabric.
